Birthworkers on the Front Lines of Chicago’s Maternal Health Crisis

Working with City Bureau, I spent three months working on a photo essay that follows doulas, midwives, and nurses who are stepping in where hospitals often fall short. The story was a finalist for a 2019 Peter Lisagor Awards under “Best Photography”
